Anyone can play pickleball, but not everyone learns how to play smart from the start.
John Moore and Sandy Halkett , from Upstate Pickleball Clinics (Greenville, SC) , have a proven training program to teach you all the core pickleball skills you need to enjoy the game and with practice, dominate the game.
Clinics Overview
There are three levels to our BEGINNER CLINICS with each level helping you to build upon the skills you are learning.
- INTRO TO PICKLEBALL is for beginners new to pickleball.
- BASIC FUNDAMENTALS helps beginners gain greater confidence in their ability to play more competitively.
- ADVANCED BEGINNER SKILLS teaches beginner/novice players how to play smarter with more skillful shot selection, including the third shot drop .
INTERMEDIATE CLINICS are also available to help players improve their understanding of strategies needed to win points.
- PICKLEBALL STUDY HALL is a geek-out session that is part classroom education and part on-court demonstration.
- PLAY WITH COACHING gives players in-game strategy advice on how to play points smarter.

- Paddles and balls are provided
- Participation is capped at 12 players for each clinic so everyone receives individualized coaching time
- All clinics are indoors on gym floors

Clinics Schedule
The Intro to Pickleball Clinic
is a two-hour session for players new to pickleball. You’ll learn how to effectively hit the ball, maintain a rally, keep score, the rules and basic game play. By the end of this clinic, you will be playing your first pickleball game. This clinic will teach you the foundational knowledge and skills to start enjoying the super fun game of pickleball.

The Basic Fundamentals Clinic
(two-hours) builds upon the skills new players have recently learned. You’ll become more skillful with your serve, return of serve and gain greater confidence in keeping score. You’ll also learn the punch volley,
block volley and simple court positioning strategies.

The Advanced Beginner Skills Clinic (two-hours) teaches you to be a more strategic player. You’ll gain a greater ability to force your opponents to make mistakes by learning how to hit
un-attackable shots and by developing a third shot drop. The concepts of “Serve & Stay” and “Return & Run” will be become a playing style habit. Your soft game at the “Winner’s Line” will improve. Plus, we will
teach you advanced doubles play strategies through in-game coaching advice.

In the Play with Coaching
clinic, you’ll receive in-game coaching on how to minimize mistakes to maximize your ability to win points. Coaches John Moore and Sandy Halkett will breakdown why points were lost and how points were won. Strategy,
shot selection, court positioning, teamwork, and more will be analyzed. Ideal for intermediate players (3.0/3.5 skill levels). This session is capped at four players per coach.

Pickleball Study Hall is designed for intermediate players (3.0/3.5 skill levels) wanting to become a better recreational player and for those gearing up for tournament play. It’s part classroom education and part on-court demonstration. We spend the first hour in the classroom learning playing strategies, shot selection skills, and discussing game play from videos. For the second half of the class, we’ll be on-the-court demonstrating strategies learned in the classroom.
